I will serve with integrity.
Integrity is the “quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.” My parents demanded integrity from me, and my state deserves nothing less. In practical terms, this means every decision I make as Treasurer will be based upon what is best for the financial health of the state and its citizens.
Safeguarding Kansas Dollars
I will work with financial institutions to ensure every dollar is wisely invested and protected.
Ensuring all funds are both lucratively invested and secure by following sound financial practices can grow Kansas’ cash reserves. I have spent my career grappling with fiscal challenges and building capital. As Treasurer, I will continue doing so on behalf of Kansas taxpayers.
I will also work to ensure that funds are invested in financial institutions across the state so all communities may benefit."
Service and Transparency
I will work to provide quality service and information about state funds.
The Treasurer is charged with keeping an accurate account of the receipts and disbursements of the treasury, including oversight of funds like the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) and the Highway Fund. The Treasurer is also responsible for issuing bonds, returning unclaimed financial properties, growing invested education and ABLE savings dollars, and more. I will establish systems for reporting the status of these funds so information is readily available to legislators and members of the public.
